Recently the White House reported on the President Obama’s spiritual convictions. The picture showed Obama at the rostrum, but the text is a third person report by Deputy White House Communications Director Jen Psak.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/08/19/white-house-strikes-back-at-muslim-tag/?hpt=Sbin

Big mistake. No one should send someone else to report on their spiritual convictions. Always do it in person and in first person. The effect in this case is exactly the opposite of what the President intended. Yep, I got an email:
“Carl, do you believe it?”
Wouldn’t you have the same response?

The introduction of a new Senate bill, S.3480, dubbed the “Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010,” is sparking concerns about a massive power grab over the Internet under the guise of “national security.”

The bill, proposed by Sen. Joe Lieberman (I – CT) claims the entire Internet, the whole global computer network and everything on it, as a “national asset” of the United States, and seeks to give President Obama the power to seize control over broad swaths of it with no oversight during a “National Cyber Emergency,” which would itself be something the president would be able to declare at any time.

But easily the most controversial aspect of the nearly 200 page bill is what is being called a “kill switch,” granting the president the power to shut down the entire Internet across the planet for national security reasons. Sen. Collins (R – ME), a supporter of the bill, claimed it was necessary to prevent a “cyber 9/11.”

Snopes.com says this is correctly attributed, and the original was written in 1995. Nothing has changed much, has it?

Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinal, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgements made that impact each one of us every day.

It’s a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering!

           545 vs. 300,000,000

EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE. READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

          545 PEOPLE–By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them..

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits…. . The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace
545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red ..

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it’s because they want them in IRAQ If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power..

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

What you do with this article now that you have read it……… Is up to you.

This might be funny if it weren’t so darned true.
Be sure to read all the way to the end:

Tax his land, Tax his bed, Tax the table, At which he’s fed.

Tax his tractor, Tax his mule, Teach him taxes Are the rule.

Tax his work, Tax his pay, He works for peanuts Anyway!

Tax his cow, Tax his goat, Tax his pants, Tax his coat.

Tax his ties, Tax his shirt, Tax his work, Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco, Tax his drink, Tax him if he Tries to think.

Tax his cigars, Tax his beers, If he cries Tax his tears.

Tax his car, Tax his gas, Find other ways To tax his ass.

Tax all he has Then let him know That you won’t be done Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers; Then tax him some more, Tax him till He’s good and sore.

Then tax his coffin, Tax his grave, Tax the sod in Which he’s laid…

Put these words Upon his tomb, Taxes drove me to my doom…’ When he’s gone, Do not relax, Its time to apply The inheritance tax..

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the hell happened? Can you spell ‘politicians? ‘ I hope this goes around THE USA at least 100 times!!!
YOU can help it get there!!!
GO AHEAD – - – BE AN AMERICAN!!!

————————————
One thing Reese does not say – all but nine of the people (Supreme Court Judges) are elected by you. When the election comes up this Fall, are you going to let these people buy your vote, or are you going to vote for what your really want? Are you going to tell the people running for office now what you want, ask them to commit to it, and then hold them accountable and tell them you plan to hold them accountable?

Please circulate this post, comment on it, let’s change things! Your turn to lead.

Vote in your primary election! This is a very critical election, as those we have voted for in the past are constantly failing us today. This is true at both the Federal and State level. I really can’t support anyone running for reelection in my area for State or Federal. It’s that bad.

In my area Wyden, for example, constantly works for health reform. Now that’s good. But he has gotten over 1.5 million dollars from the health institutions: insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and related companies. I have prescription coverage, but I also have to use two prescription eye drops that cost me about $100 each and are not covered. Each time I purchase one of these tiny bottles, it as if the pharmacy is screaming that me that Wyden doesn’t represent my interests. Why are these tiny drops so expensive? Wyden must go home.

Ditto for financial reform. Dodd acts like he is for financial reform. Sure, he’s running for election and Dodd is hurting bad for votes. We need reform. My Senator Merkley says he’s been helping this guy with the reform. But Dodd has gotten over 13 million dollars from Wall Street to protect their bonuses, CEO pay, parties in Las Vegas, and more. Dodd has no serious interest in reform. He can stall things to after the election (or maybe past something that is very weak), and then be back in the pockets of Wall Street after the fall election. Merkley is not running for reelection, but he does need to wake up.

And now the government is putting you on the hook for Europe’s debts. See:
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/05/10/federal-reserve-opens-credit-line-europe/

To get voting records and info of your representatives see:
http://www.votesmart.org/

At the state level, my representative (Devlin) fought to increase taxes. I wrote and told him no. To protect himself politically, he joined others and referred it to the voters. The unions bought that vote in January. My Corporation taxes have doubled. Prices in Office Depot, Staples, Fred Meyer, and even at my donut store shot up to cover the new taxes. I raised the prices for my services to cover the increased prices. Devlin is a gelding. He needs to be sent home. Ditto for the other state representatives. They don’t represent me.

It’s time we sent ‘em home. If you are registered Democrat and want to vote for a Republican or Independent candidate in the primary, vote the weaker Democrat now and then you can vote the Republican or Independent against the primary winner in the Fall. If there is no “weaker” candidate, then write in who you want. Just don’t vote for a loser. The opposite is also true. Also don’t vote a candidate on a single issue, and study each candidate carefully. Don’t vote anyone out when the one running against him or her is even worse.

Don’t be in an illusion. The media and those of influence try to fool you. Don’t be fooled! Obama and most of Congress is owned by Wall Street, not Main Street. Get in there and fight for your freedom or you will lose it. Want to see another illusion:

It seems wonderful that our own Senator Merkley worked with Senator Chris Dodd to get a banking reform in place. There’ only one major problem here. I have no faith in Senator Chris Dodd. None at all. Back in 2008, Lou Dobbs reported That Chris Dobb was a leader in putting the Wall Street bailout together, protecting the gold parachutes, high CEO salaries, and the obscene bonuses for the very people that caused the problem. (see http://www.creatingnewworlds.org/wordpress/2008/10/29/politics-chris-dodd-barney-frank-roy-blunt-and-judd-gregg-and-the-bailout/).

Chris Dobb got over 13 million dollars from Wall Street over 20 years for his leadership in this. He’s up for reelection this fall, and the people in his home state are hopping mad and Dobb doesn’t stand much chance of winning. So he plays nice to the voters with this bank reform bill. After the election, of course, he can be in the pockets of Wall Street again. Let’s get all these guys out of there.

Wait – there’s more. My doctor prescribes two eye drops for me to keep my eye pressure down. Each of these two drugs cost about $90 for a little two inch bottle. I have prescription coverage, but it’s a co-pay with brand drugs and both of these are brand drugs. My co-pay is $45 for each. Why are these tiny bottles of drops so expensive? Because the pharmaceutical and insurance companies pay Congress to let them get away with this. My congressman (Wyden) was paid over 1.5 million by the health industry. That’s not health reform they just gave us.
Wake up people – send these guys home!

Get ready for massive changes in Washington, D.C. next fall.

Start getting ready for the November, 2010 elections. Remember the motto (unless you like being abused): If they’re “IN;” they’re “OUT.”

Remember this on the 2010 Election Day. . .

1. Your U.S. House & Senate have voted themselves $4,700 and $5,300 raises.

2. They voted to NOT give you a Social Security cost of living raise in 2010 and 2011.

3. Your Medicare premiums will go up $285.60 for the 2-years and you will not get the 3% COLA or $660/yr. Your total 2-year loss and cost is $1,600 or $3,200 for husband and wife. Plain enough?

4. Every member of Congress will get an added $10,000 which is putting them very close to $200,000 per year. They’ve exempted themselves from the healthcare changes they wish to enact on us. Sounds like an elite class to me. They should be on the same health and pension plan we are: Social security and Medicare – or they go home.

5. Do you feel taken advantaged of? They vote themselves a raise and better benefits. They only care about WE THE PEOPLE on election day, right? You never did anything about it in the past. The time for action is near!!!!

6. Do you really think that Nancy, Barbara, Patty, Harry, Chris, Charlie, Barney, John Murtha, et al, care about you? SEND THE MESSAGE — You’re FIRED.

7. Our present elected representatives are loyal to their party. They are bribable, do what is in their OWN best interest. They have completely ignored the massive debt this country is in and are increasing it without regard to the taxpayers who will have to pay for it all.

8. President Obama isn’t leading any more. Bernanke (with the help of Congress) shoved billions to Wall Street and corrupt corporations under the motto “they are too big to fail”. That statement is immoral and unethical. Once core values are sacrificed, there is no leadership or vision. As a result, Bernanke should be out of there. Meanwhile, a stimulus plan that was supposed to create jobs didn’t. Most of the money was wasted.

9. Both political parties have tried to build a social medicine plan when both of them are owned by the health industry. One of my senators has received over 1.5 million dollars from the health industry. I can’t trust him to put together a social medicine program for me.

*** THIS IS NOT ABOUT POLITICAL PARTIES!
IN 2010 YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET RID OF Up to 1/3 OF THE SENATE AND 100% OF THE HOUSE.
The election in 2010 will be a sea-change to the mindset of any member of Congress who may survive..

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. It is time for you to lead. Send ‘em home. Pass this post on to your friends. As them to stand up. Write to those representing them in Washington.

Be sure to open the “Snopes” comments. Appears this is ALL TRUE!!!!!! When are we going to impeach this man?

Oh, how well put this is! Thank you, Pat Boone.

And Happy AMERICAN New Year ya’ll!

The President Without A Country
By Pat Boone

“We’re no longer a Christian nation.” – President Barack Obama, June 2009
” America has been arrogant.” – President Barack Obama
“After 9/11, America didn’t always live up to her ideals.”- President Barack Obama
“You might say that America is a Muslim nation.”- President Barack Obama, Egypt 2009

Thinking about these and other statements made by the man who wears the title of President. I keep wondering what country he believes he’s president of.

In one of my very favorite stories, Edward Everett Hale’s “The Man without a Country,” a young Army lieutenant named Philip Nolan stands condemned for treason during the Revolutionary War, having come under the influence of Aaron Burr. When the judge asks him if he wishes to say anything before sentence is passed, young Nolan defiantly exclaims, “Damn the United States ! I wish I might never hear of the United States again!”

The stunned silence in the courtroom is palpable, pulsing. After a long pause, the judge soberly says to the angry lieutenant: “You have just pronounced your own sentence. You will never hear of the United States again.. I sentence you to spend the rest of your life at sea, on one or another of this country’s naval vessels – under strict orders that no one will ever speak to you again about the country you have just cursed.”

And so it was. Philip Nolan was taken away and spent the next 40 years at sea, never hearing anything but an occasional slip of the tongue about America. The last few pages of the story, recounting Nolan’s dying hours in his small stateroom – now turned into a shrine to the country he fore swore – never fail to bring me to tears. And I find my own love for this dream, this miracle called America , refreshed and renewed. I know how blessed and unique we are.

But reading and hearing the audacious, shocking statements of the man who was recently elected our president – a young black man living the impossible dream of millions of young Americans, past and present, black and white – I want to ask him, “Just what country do you think you’re president of?”

You surely can’t be referring to the United States of America , can you? America is emphatically a Christian nation, and has been from its inception! Seventy percent of her citizens identify themselves as Christian. The Declaration of Independence and our Constitution were framed, written and ratified by Christians. It’s because this was, and is, a nation built on and guided by Judeo-Christian biblical principles that you, sir, have had the inestimable privilege of being elected her president.
You studied law at Harvard, didn’t you, sir? You taught constitutional law in Chicago? Did you not ever read the statement of John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and an author of the landmark “Federalist Papers”: “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers – and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation – to select and prefer Christians for their rulers”?
In your studies, you surely must have read the decision of the Supreme Court in 1892: “Our lives and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian.”
Did your professors have you skip over all the high-court decisions right up till the mid 1900′s that echoed and reinforced these views and intentions? Did you pick up the history of American jurisprudence only in 1947, when for the first time a phrase coined by Thomas Jefferson about a “wall of separation between church and state” was used to deny some specific religious expression – contrary to Jefferson’s intent with that statement?
Or, wait a minute. Were your ideas about America ‘s Christianity formed during the 20 years you were a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ under your pastor, Jeremiah Wright? Is that where you got the idea that “America is no longer a Christian nation”? Is this where you, even as you came to call yourself a Christian, formed the belief that “America has been arrogant”?
Even if that’s the understandable explanation of your damning of your country and accusing the whole nation (not just a few military officials trying their best to keep more Americans from being murdered by jihadists) of “not always living up to her ideals,” how did you come up with the ridiculous, alarming notion that we might be “considered a Muslim nation”?
Is it because there are some 2 million or more Muslims living here, trying to be good Americans? Out of a current population of over 300 million, 70 percent of whom are Christians? Does that make us, by any rational definition, a “Muslim nation”?
Why are we not, then, a “Chinese nation”? A “Korean nation”? Even a “Vietnamese nation”? There are even more of these distinct groups in America than Muslims. And if the distinction you’re trying to make is a religious one, why is America not “a Jewish nation”? There’s actually a case to be made for the latter, because our Constitution – and the success of our Revolution and founding – owe a deep debt to our Jewish brothers.
Have you stopped to think what an actual Muslim America would be like? Have you ever really spent much time in Iran? Even in Egypt? You, having been instructed in Islam as a kid at a Muslim school in Indonesia and saying you still love the call to evening prayers, can surely picture our nation founded on the Quran, not the Judeo-Christian Bible, and living under Shariah law. Can’t you? You do recall Muhammad’s directives [Surah 9:5,73] to “break the cross” and “kill the infidel”?
It seems increasingly and painfully obvious that you are more influenced by your upbringing and questionable education than most suspected. If you consider yourself the president of a people who are “no longer Christian,” who have “failed to live up to our ideals,” who “have been arrogant,” and might even be “considered Muslim” – you are president of a country most Americans don’t recognize.
Could it be you are a president without a country?
All who love their Christian belief’s and your country, forward this email to all in your address book.
